An audio excerpt from audiovisual installation "Furniture Karaoke", shown in a framework of Riga Poetry Days, Riga Poetry Map project in Riga, Latvia, September 16th, 2012.
Installation included video projection of a poetic text, sound, found objects and interactive element for spectators - a microphone with effects processor (visitors could add their sounds to the installation).
Installation is dedicated to Sarkandaugava district of Riga, the district where author grew up. Text is dealing with the author's fears of encountering the space full of memories. The sound of installation metaphorically shows furniture reacting to author's memories.
Sound is constructed from processed recordings of places of this particular district - sounds of cars passing by the window, trains, birds, children playing in the yard, TV broadcasting commercials, author's parents' speech, cat's breath etc.
